Council Goals

Goal 1. Develop Partnerships and Projects

Develop and utilize partnerships to more effectively provide project assistance and leadership to communities to meet regional challenges.

Objective 1. Partnership Development

The Staff and the Council will gain a more comprehensive understanding of resource issues and available resources through interactions with partners. Partners will gain understanding of Pri-Ru-Ta’s abilities to assist them in accomplishing their goals. Council and staff will work with other groups and institutions in order to strengthen their grant writing and administration skills, and encourage the formation of new non-profit corporations as appropriate.

Strategies

1. Council and staff will gain understanding of present need and available resources by meeting with individuals and representatives of organizations and agencies who are unfamiliar with the RC&D Council, i.e. Township Officers, wildlife groups and basin team participants.

2. Council will develop a more comprehensive understanding of the needs and resources available from existing RC&D partners, i.e., NRCS, LCD’s, USFS, RD, UWEX, Tribal Nations, and WIDNR.

3. Council and Staff will meet with congressional staff people from the offices of US Senator Feingold, US Senator Kohl, US Representative Obey, WI Senator Clausing, WI Senator Decker, and WI Senator Jauch, and attend listening sessions for US Senator Feingold.

4. Council and staff will meet with the agency representatives responsible each of the grants, listed in the Discipline Specific Strategies section below, to gain a greater understanding of the potential of the each program in Northwestern Wisconsin.

5. Council and staff will provide training to partners to increase their grant writing abilities.

6. Council and staff will provide guidance to groups considering applying for nonprofit status.
